Student Centre Hallway, Nipissing University - We're having a bake sale to kick off Pride week in North Bay and at Nipissing! Bring some change and grab some food, participate in our lovely event! Aids Committee, 269 Main Street West #201 - Come join us for Condom Flower making at the AIDS committee! We're watching a movie as well.
Friday - March 22nd - 2:00 pm
Police Station, 135 Princess Street West - The North Bay Police have given their full support to our pride week. They are even raising a pride flag to hang inside the station in honour of Pride Week. Please join us for this flag raising to celebrate the North Bay Police's dedication to protecting and serving all residents as well as their commitment to combating homophobia and transphobia in our community. It is a strong and clear message of support to anyone who may face harassment, discrimination or violence because of homophobia or transphobia.
Saturday - March 23rd - 12:15 pm - PRIDE PARADE!
Police Station Downtown - As the epic climax of our Pride Festival, we are having a Pride Parade!! Please come out and join us whether you want to march or cheer. If you want to, wear rainbow colours or merchandise.
For Marchers - Please join us at the Police Station at 12:15 to get ready for the parade. There will be signs and some rainbow flags you can borrow for the march. Speeches will happen at 12:45 and then we will start marching down Ferguson Street at 1:00 pm. PLEASE REGISTER BY EMAILING [email protected]. We will march all the way to Worthington Street then head into Amelia Rising for a meet & greet with snacks.
Please note: When we reach the cheerers between 1st and 2nd street, we will be holding a 'Die-In' in recognition and remembrance of those who are not with us because of harassment and violence they face. When the music stops, we ask that all marchers bow their head, lower their signs and flags, and cross their arms over their chests for a few minutes. Afterward, we will resume the march.
For Cheerers - Please gather with the other cheerers on Ferguson Street between 1st and 2nd street. Stand on the side with the war memorial because the marchers will only be marching on that side of the street. Once the marchers have all passed you please follow us to Amelia Rising where there will be a meet & greet with snacks.
INVITE ALL YOUR FRIENDS! TELL ALL YOUR COWORKERS AND CLASSMATES! Everyone is welcome to come march or cheer!

1:00 pm - LAST CHANCE - North Bay and District Multicultural Centre, 100 Main Street East - We are watching Last Chance, a movie that tells the story of 5 asylum seekers who flee their native countries to escape homophobic violence. They face hurdles integrating into Canada, fear deportation, and anxiously await a decision that will change their lives forever. We need to keep track of numbers so please email us if you plan to attend ([email protected]).

Sunday, 7:00pm - DRAG PAGEANT - Governor's House, Nipissing University - Believe it or not, Nipissing has been holding drag pageants for years! And they are always a lot of fun! Please join us for this year's pageant. Tickets must be purchased in advance at any residence - $2 or a canned food item. Each year's is always different but usually features student drag kings or queens with hilariously gendered outfits and behaviour. In some ways, drag pageants give the opportunity to recognize the humour of the gender stereotypes and expectations. Please join us for Mommy Mommy, a documentary about a lesbian couple's long and difficult journey as they try to adopt a child.

Nipissing Doors, Nipissing University/ Downtown terminal - At 7:00 pm, we will meet inside the doors of Nipissing University and march with candles and signs around campus. We will take the 8:05 city bus downtown to the terminal and meet up as a group at the downtown terminal to continue our march at 8:30 pm on the sidewalks of the downtown area. Please join us to honour those who have faced transphobia! Trans rights are too often ignored!

Unoffical Pride Week!
Hey everyone! This coming week from November 21st - 25th, 2012 Pride on Campus will be holding our unofficial Pride Week for Nipissing University and Canadore College.

Philadelphia Screening
In light of December 1st being World AIDS Day, Pride on Campus will be screening
Jonathan Demme's "Philadelphia" (1993) on Thursday, December 8th. Starring Tom
Hanks and Denzel Washington, "Philadelphia" addresses issues of homophobia and
the AIDS pandemic.
MOVIE NIGHT begins at 6:30 PM, screening at 7 PM,
and is being held in H105. There will be free snacks and everyone is encouraged
to come!
